Places to Visit in Uttrakhand

Dehradun-Mussoorie :Enveloped by thickly wooded Cedar/Deodhar forests, Patnitop offers beautiful picnic spots, peaceful walks and breathtaking views of the mountainscape of the Chenab basin. In winter, the resort is generally covered with a thick mantle of snow thus providing opportunities for various snow games including skiing. It is the closest winter resort to Jammu and to Udhampur and is second to none in its natural charm, climate, pine forests and lush green cover.

Jim Corbett National Park: Corbett has been a haunt for tourists and wildlife lovers for a long time. Tourism activity is only allowed in selected areas of Corbett Tiger Reserve so that people get an opportunity to see its splendid landscape and the diverse wildlife In recent years the number of people coming here has increased dramatically. Presently, every season more than 70,000 visitors come to the park from India and other countries.

The Jim Corbett National Park is a haven for the adventure seekers and wildlife adventure lovers alike.


Almora: Almora has many noted temples, including Kasar Devi, Banari Devi, Chitai Jageshwar, Binsar Mahadev, Garhnath and Baijnath. Kasar Devi temple was visited by Swami Vivekananda and this area also has a Chabad House.Rudreshwar Mahadev Temple

Ranikhet: Ranikhet becomes very cold in the winters and remains moderate in summers, and is best enjoyed from March to October. Ranikhet gets snowfall in the winter season, mainly in the months of December, January and February.

Nainitali: The Naina Devi Temple was destroyed by the landslip of 1880 and later rebuilt. It is located on the northern shore of Naini Lake. The presiding deity of the temple is Maa Naina Devi represented by two Netras or eyes. Flanking Naina Devi are the deities of Mata Kali and Lord Ganesha

Kosani: Another attraction named 'Anashakti Ashram', is a quiet and revered place where Mahatma Gandhi spent his some days and wrote his commentary of Anashkti Yog. Pant Museum is another place of importance, this is the place where the famous poet of Hindi literature, Sumitranandan Pantwas born.his place is preserved in its original ancestral form and served as a reference library on him. The KMVN (Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam) resthouse in Kausani is an ideal place to stay and it affords panoramic views of the mountains.
