Karnataka:- The capital city of Karnataka is Bangalore which is full of gardens and parks that greatly add to its scenic beauty. There are lots of ancient sculptures and historical architectures. The places of interest are Bandipur National Park, Gol Gumbaz, the monolith of Gomateshwara, Jog Falls and Udupi Krishna Temple.

Places to Visit in Karnataka

Bandipur National Park : You can see the national parks and the forests that make up the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve in the map above. At the top left is the Nagarhole National Park, now called the Rajiv Gandhi National Park, in Karnataka. Move down and there is the Bandipur National Park (link to park's page on the Project Tiger web site), also in Karnataka.

Gol Gumbaz: The tomb, located in the city of Bijapur, or Vijapur in Karnataka, southern India, was built in 1659 by the famousarchitect, Yaqut of Dabul. The structure consists of a massive square chamber measuring nearly 50 m (160 ft) on each side and covered by a huge dome 44 meters/137.5 feet in diameter making it among one of the largest dome structures in world.

Gomateshwara: (also known as Bahubali) according to Jain Scriptures was the second of the one hundred sons of the first Tirthankara,Lord Rishabha and king of Podanpur. A monolithic statue of Gomateshwara built by the Ganga minister and commander Chamundaraya is situated.

Jog Falls: Jog Falls is considered to be the largest waterfall in India. The plunge is around 829 feet high, which is roughly 253 meters. To witness the most splendid views of Jog Falls, it’s advisable to visit this destination in monsoon season, as very little water can be seen in arid days. However, during monsoon, this plunge exceeds the volume and height of Kaiteus Falls.

Udupi Krishna Temple: Shree Krishna Temple Udipi is first among the seven places of pilgrimages. Thousands of pious devotees throng the Udupi Krishna temple all round the year to catch a glimpse of Lord Krishna. The unique feature of Shree Krishna Mutt temple is that the Lord is worshipped only through a window with nine holes called the Navagraha Kitiki. The window is exquisitely carved and silver - plated.
