Gangtok:- Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim, is also the largest city in the state. It is one of a kind hill resort that is characterized by a amalgamation of different cultures. Situated at an altitude of 1700 m above sea level, it lies in the Eastern side of Sikkim and is the headquarters of the eastern district. Being on the lower Himalayas, Gangtok offers some breathtaking views of Himalayas and Kanchenjunga, the second highest peak in the world. Gangtok has been able to move on with time, developing itself into a modern city, and still preserve its olden charms. The best time to visit Gangtok is from April to July. Deer Park :The park located close to the new secretariat is also called the Rustomji Park. It is named after one of the Dewans of the Chogyal of Sikkim. The park is home to native animals of Sikkim like the red panda and Himalayan Bear. The park has a huge statue of Lord Buddha commemorating his preachings of the noble truths. In front of the Buddha statue burns a butter lamp, which is surrounded by flowers of exotic variety. The park offers the spectacular view of the surrounding hills.
A well-chosen peaceful area that is more than 2ha in size has been turned into a suitable habitat for the deer. It is interesting to see hinds, does and fawns, representing some of the smaller species, roaming freely in the sprawling valley.
Perhaps Malaysia most famous deer, the rainforest mousedeer or kancil, can be seen here. The mousedeer is the world's smallest hoofed animal and a popular figure in local folklore due to its legendary wit.
Enchey Monastery: Every year large number of tourist visit the Himalayan town and number is increasing. The best part of the Gangtok is that the local people still have a strong believe in their customs and old-age traditions. It doesn’t mean that city is not developed you can find here broad roads, posh markets, hospital ,educational institutes, flyovers, fast food corners, discotheques and all other modern amenities which you can expect from any other city in India.
Do-drulChorten: Situated at Dotapu Chorten, this is the most important stupa of Sikkim. Do-Drul Chorten was built under the supervision of Trulshi Rinpoche in 1945-46, in accordance with the prophecy made in 1944 by Dud-Zom Rinpoche.
Rumtek Monastery: Rumtek Gompa is the biggest monastery in Sikkim. This is the abode of the head of the Kagyupa order of Tibetan Buddhism. A large number of devotees and tourists visit the Gompa throughout the year.
